May 29, 2019. The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association sponsored Northgate Gonzales Markets during their month-long celebration of Dia del Niño this past April. Northgate Gonzales Markets is a 40-store retail chain based in Anaheim, CA.
Every April 30th, the holiday Día del Niño, or Day of the Child, is celebrated across Mexico and now in many Hispanic communities across the US. The holiday is meant to honor the joy of children and childhood. Kids enjoy special presents, activities and food meant just for them.
Northgate rolled out a series of events to celebrate children throughout the month of April. The fun promotion included 24 kids cooking classes (Miguelitos Cocina Club) at Northgate where future chefs created delicious Chilean grape and cheese kabobs.
The month-long program culminated at four Northgate parking lot locations on Saturday, April 27th. Hundreds of kids and families enjoyed end of season tasty Chilean crimson grapes, train rides, face painting, giveaways, music, games and much more.
Western Region Merchandiser, Steve Hattendorf, said “Chile is the largest grape exporter in the world and grapes tied in as the perfect healthy snack for Northgate’s inaugural month-long celebration of children.”
